Membership

QSA membership is open to all current SAFA members who reside within the S-QLD region. There is no membership fee.

Why become a QSA member?

QSA regularly communicates with all SAFA members in the region, regardless of whether they are members of QSA. The main benefit of becoming a QSA member is that you can:

  • vote at QSA Annual General Meetings (AGMs) and Special General Meetings (SGMs);
  • nominate for election to the QSA Management Committee;
  • access the register of QSA members, subject to Management Committee approval.

QSA is committed to ensuring that all SAFA members in the region have the opportunity to participate in the governance of the Association. All General Meetings will be announced well in advance, and all SAFA members will be invited to join QSA as members so that they can vote at the meeting.

Membership expectations

  • QSA is a volunteer organisation, and QSA members are expected to support the Association by:

    • keeping themselves informed about QSA’s activities, initiatives, and governance, including reading member communications and attending QSA information sessions;
    • keeping the QSA committee informed of issues, opportunities, consultations, or developments that may be relevant for QSA or affect sports aviation in S-QLD;
    • attending the QSA AGMs and, if possible, also the SAFA AGMs;
    • treating other members with respect and adhering to the QSA Code of Conduct and the Air Sport Australia Confederation Code of Ethics;
    • contributing positively to the objectives of the Association, for example by volunteering, joining a working group, and supporting QSA or SAFA initiatives.

Maintaining your membership

Under the Constitution, membership will ordinarily end if a member:

  • resigns;
  • ceases to be eligible for membership (for example, no longer being a current SAFA member or no longer residing within S-QLD);
  • is absent from three consecutive AGMs without apology and the Management Committee resolves that the membership should be regarded as resigned; or
  • has their membership terminated by the Management Committee in accordance with the Constitution, including where their conduct is considered prejudicial to the Association or they fail to comply with the Constitution.

Before any membership is terminated, the member will be given an opportunity to respond, and decisions may be appealed in accordance with the Constitution.
